One Month Visit: 11 pounds 4 ounces. 22.25 inches long. Head circumference: 14.25 inches.
Wearing: Size 1 diapers. We switched at 3 weeks. 0-3 month & 3 month clothes. Newborn clothes were getting snug around 3.5 weeks.

Feeding Schedule
I am exclusively breastfeeding on demand which means I spent much of the month feeding every hour. Evenings were the most frequent time. He has spaced out his daytime feedings to closer to 2 hours now...some evenings he still cluster feeds. Nights aren't very consistent yet, but now that he will stay asleep in his bouncy seat longer than he stayed asleep in the rock n play or the bassinet he goes a little longer between feedings. We had one night that he went 3 hours between feedings!

Sleep
Most of the month he would only sleep while held. No matter how deep of a sleep I got him in before setting him down he would still wake up within minutes and scream. The first few nights he seemed to hate the rock n play which I assumed was because of the incline. We bought the Halo Bassinest since he seemed to do better laying flat in our bed. He slept a tiny bit better in the bassinet for 1 or 2 nights but then screamed after 5 minutes every time I put him in there. We went back to the rock n play after that which he would do well with between the first two feedings, but after that he wouldn't have any part of being laid down. He spent the better part of a majority of nights in our bed at that point. For the last week or so I've been able to get him to mostly stay asleep between feedings in the bouncy seat so we are on to that for now.

As far as swaddling, we used the Woombie swaddle for the first 1-2 weeks but then it seemed like it got too snug and made him uncomfortable. We tried to go without a swaddle but he would wake up even more as he startled himself awake. Now we are using the Halo sleep sacks with the swaddle attached and that seems to be working ok. He always seems like he's trying to break out of the swaddle...but he doesn't stay asleep without it.
He is not on any sort of nap schedule yet...he just sleeps when I can get him to sleep. He mostly prefers to be held during the day...although every now and then I can get him to stay asleep for short periods once I set him down in the bouncy seat.

Milestones
Social smiles!! We had seen a few smiles here and there but when I was taking his one month pictures Rocco was being silly behind me and Dominic reacted with smiles. He also started producing real tears and his umbilical cord fell off. He has had really great head control ever since he was born, but I've still been trying to work on tummy time everyday.
Favorite Things
He really likes to be worn. We started with the basic Baby Bjorn but he quickly outgrew that and it started hurting my back as he got bigger. Now I wear him in the Solly and he loves it. It took a little trial and error to get the fit right, but now that we have it figured out we love it. Joe uses the larger Baby Bjorn and Rocco uses the Solly for his animals.
He also loves being held and eating.

Least Favorite Things
Being put down, getting dressed, diaper changes, and baths. He doesn't like his rock n play, or bassinet.

Favorite Gear/Products
Baby Bjorn, Solly wrap, wonder weeks app, woombie, Halo sleep sack, Infantino play mat.

This month has flown by! It feels like just yesterday we were rushing to the hospital, arriving just in time for my "birth plan" to go out the window and Dominic to join our family. Just like that morning, this month has been a whirlwind and has taught us so much about patience, showing ourselves (and each other) a little grace, and trusting God. It definitely takes some adjusting going from one babe to two...but I think we may be starting to find our groove. As hectic as it has been, I can't imagine our lives without this spunky boy.

Much Love,
B.
